Summer is here! June brings the beginning of the season for 2013 summer camps in Marathon and the Middle Keys. There are enough day camps and activities to keep our kids busy, safe, and happy until the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year in August.

1) The City of Marathon Camp Adventure!

The City of Marathon offers their Camp Adventure!

Catch the Magic! The summer of 2013 will be filled with fun at Camp Adventure at Community Park in Marathon. Children ages 6 to 13 enjoy summer activities and field trips throughout the Keys. The Camp Adventure program provides high energy, high impact, and fun programs for youth of all ages.

The City of Marathon Parks and Recreation Department and Camp Adventure Youth Service staff are committed to positive child/leader interactions and to create magic moments for children that last a lifetime.  Camp Adventure begins June 10th and runs for 10 weeks until august 16th; Monday thru Friday 8:30 am – 5pm.

There will be NO CAMP on July 4th.

Children may be enrolled for the entire camp or for selected weeks. You can register your child for Camp Adventure now by completing the registration form and health form. These forms can be returned to the office at the Community Park or faxed to 305-289-5888. Space is limited, so be sure to register early to save a spot at camp. The cost per week is $80 and includes all field trips.

2) Amazing Desert Journey: Vacation Bible School

The Martin Luther Chapel will offer the Amazing Desert Journey!


Martin Luther Chapel invites Marathon Youth to join them for a fun-filled week of Vacation Bible School. Monday June 10th-Friday June 14th from 9 AM until 12 noon. Children will take place in free arts, crafts, music, games, and snacks! Camp will take place at Martin Luther Chapel 325 122nd St. Directly behind Napa Auto Parts. 3) Marathon Community Theater Summer Stage

Marathon Community Theater will offer a Summer Stage Program!

June 11-July 12 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30-7 pm, the Marathon Community Theater is opening it’s stage to children ages 6-16 to come and recieve instruction on acting, stage direction, auditioning, production, and more! Program culminates in live performance on Friday, July 12 at the theater. Price is $35 and includes a membership to our Community Theater. 4) Summer Soccer at the Marathon Community Park

5) St Columba Summer Camp

St Columba Episcopal Church Camps
St Columba is offering a variety of camps throughout the summer!
  • The St Columba Summer Bible school will be held from 9 am-12 noon June 17-June 21, and is being offered for children ages 4 and up free of cost.
  • The St Columba Just for Fun Summer camp will run from 9 am-3 pm on July 8-July 19 for kids aged 4 and up! Camp inlcudes arts and crafts, games, and field trips. Free of charge 305-743-6417.
  • St Columba Music Camp will run from 9 am-3 pm July 22-July 26 for children ages 4 and up. Kids will enjoy instruction by professionals on a variety of instruments, plus vocal lessons. Final musical performance on Friday, July 27. Free of charge. 305-743-6412

6) School of rock at the United Methodist Church

United Methodist Church School of Rock
United Methodist Church will hold the School of Rock!

Monday, June 17 – Friday, June 21, kids in 5th grade and up are welcome to attend the School of Rock from 9 am-3 pm. Learn keyboard, guitar, drums, and vocals under direction of director Duane Shelton and Misery Loves Company band members with culminating performance on Saturday June 22. Signup is Saturday, June 15 from 9 am-1 pm, and it is free for kids to attend. marathonumc@gmail.com or 305-743-5107.

 7) Camp Living Stones

Sleepaway Camp Living Stones may be a great way to keep your teenagers occupied!

Sunday June 30-Sunday July 7. Teenagers welcome to join a Christian sleep-away camp in Tennessee that includes ropes courses, rafting, mission and work projects. $435. Space is limited, so call soon. 305-587-7844

8) Pigeon Key Marine Science Camp

Pigeon Key Summer Camp is the perfect adventure for kids aged 8+

Pigeon Key Marine Science day and overnight camp for kids ages 10 and up.
