Taking a look at our events calendar, the weekend seems a bit bare! There are certainly a lot of fishing tourneys coming up, but that’s not until next weekend. So, what to do, what to do?
Why not spend the day at our beautiful Sombrero Beach?? Slap on the sunscreen pack a little cooler, and hit the sand for a few hours.
Have a boat? Grouper season is open! Get on out and catch some fish for dinner. Try a new recipe, or take it over to one of our great restaurants that offers a “cook your catch” option! Castaway, Sparky’s, and Burdine’s, for example, will take your cleaned fish and prep ’em up with one of their excellent dishes!
While you’re at Sparky’s, take advantage of their AWESOME happy hour! Every day from 4-6 pm take part in outstanding drink specials and 25 cent peel and eat shrimp and wings!
Let’s not forget that today is the first Friday of the month, and we all know what that means. CLUB MIRABELLA is up and running at Castaway Waterfront! Music, dancing, and adult beverages to be had!
The Marathon Community Theater just opened up Moon Over Buffalo, a great comedy to catch! “A diva actress is barely tolerant of her philandering semi-alcoholic husband in this raucous farce about a dysfunctional theatre troupe at the Erlander Theatre in 1953 Buffalo, NY. Mishaps and confusion arise when they hear famed film director Frank Capra may attend a show to possibly cast the two in movies. Will they get the audition and give a performance of a lifetime? Find out in this fast-paced funny backstage comedy.”
You can always take advantage of the wonderful attractions available here in the Islands of Marathon. Stop by the Visitor’s Center at mile 53.5 to pick up one of our Environmental Passports for discounts to Dolphin Research Center, Pigeon Key, the Turtle Hospital, and Crane Point Hammock.
Take a stroll on Old Seven, or take to the water by kayak or paddleboard! There’s an endless list of water sports for every level of activity!
Still not sure what to do? Go see Stacey at the Marathon Visitor’s Center (12222 Overseas Hwy, on the gulf side) for more pointers!
