Clothing with a Kiss, LLC creates lingerie for breast cancer survivors and creates jobs for Pinellas County Jail female inmates

July 2, 2013/ST PETERSBURG, Fla

Clothing with a Kiss, LLC a local company that makes lingerie for breast cancer survivors has partnered with The Red Tent Project to help create jobs for nonviolent female offenders being released from the Pinellas County Jail.

Clothing with a Kiss, LLC owner Heather Joie is a breast cancer survivor and created the lingerie company to help restore passion and confidence by “covering” the cancer breast in sexy, fun, and tasteful lingerie made in the USA.  In addition to lingerie, they create rhinestone logo t-shirts and hats, carry hosiery, boas, pasties, and jewelry – all to help the woman feel good again.  When Ms. Joie started the company a year ago, her goal was to not only help breast cancer survivors, also to keep the business local, and to create jobs.

Barbara Rhode, LMFT (Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist), founder of The Red Tent Project currently offers classes in the jail where female inmates come together to learn new skills.  Clothing with a Kiss, LLC will be providing an instructor to teach these inmates how to sew lingerie, so that when they are released in 30-60 days they may be eligible to interview and be hired to sew their lingerie.

According to Ms. Rhode “women who have served time can look forward to a 40% drop in lifetime earnings.”  Clothing with a Kiss, LLC not only wants to help make changes in the lives of breast cancer women struggling with their loss of femininity, they also want to help create jobs to reduce the recidivism of these nonviolent female offenders.

Clothing with a Kiss, LLC has an office and studio on Central Avenue in The Edge District of downtown St. Petersburg, and recently expanded space to accommodate The Red Tent Project.  The offices house fabric, patterns, trims, cutting table, heat press machines, inventory, and soon will be busy with ex-offenders sewing lingerie, earning an income, and working toward getting their life back together.  They will also be creating lingerie to help the lives of breast cancer survivors.
