If you live in, plan to visit, or vacation in the Middle Keys over the December holidays, you can get a four-day jump on New Year’s Eve celebrations while everyone else is still sweeping up gift wrap.
The Florida Keys Craft Beer & Bubbly Festival in Marathon is a free outdoor food, drink and live music event of the first order. It might be a little early to usher in the New Year—it’s Sunday, December 27, noon to 7 p.m. at Marathon Community Park—so let’s instead say that it ushers in the intent to usher in the New Year.
And unlike almost any New Year’s Eve party of the same magnitude, there’s no cover charge at this popular Keys festival. You’ll be able to buy all the beer, wine and champagne you want by the glass. But admission to the park, on the Atlantic side of Overseas Highway at Mile Marker 49, is free. You do have the option to buy a VIP ticket, which provides value if you’re sticking around awhile.
VIP ticketholders to the Florida Keys Craft Beer and Bubbly Festival get a variety of exclusive benefits for their $75 investment—which goes to the Marathon Chamber of Commerce’s Scholarship Program and Marathon Rotary Club. The benefits include free entry in the VIP tent where there’s all-you-can-eat VIP food menu, no limits on free beer, wine and champagne, and comfortable furniture with stage views; four coupons for free beers outside the VIP tent; and more.
The Florida Keys Craft Beer and Bubbly Festival might be bookended by Christmas and New Year’s, so it might not necessarily be the biggest party of your week.
