Grimal Grove Hosts Breadfruit-Inspired Culinary Evening Featuring Celebrity Chef Sam Choy

Big Pine Key, Florida – Grimal Grove will present a unique culinary experience celebrating breadfruit and island culture with an exclusive evening led by renowned Hawaiian celebrity Chef Sam Choy and immersive grove insights from Dr. Russell Fielding.

Guests will begin the evening with a reception featuring a poke station and passed appetizers before embarking on a guided tour of the historic Grimal Grove led by Dr. Fielding. The tour will introduce attendees to the grove’s remarkable collection of tropical fruit trees and the agricultural heritage of breadfruit, known across Polynesia as ʻulu.

Following the tour, guests will gather beneath the canopy of the grove’s breadfruit trees for a family-style dinner curated by Chef Choy. The menu will highlight seasonal seafood, fresh farm produce, and inventive preparations of ʻulu, showcasing the versatility and cultural significance of this iconic staple.

The evening will conclude with a vibrant performance by Drums of Polynesia and a dessert course, creating a celebratory finale that blends culinary artistry with Polynesian cultural tradition.

The event offers guests a rare opportunity to experience world-class island cuisine in one of Key West’s most distinctive outdoor settings while learning about the ecological and cultural importance of breadfruit.
